@naziah,
God, much like our parents, has a ruleset and a code of conduct, but the formalities of the old testament we're eliminated with the birth and sacrifice of his son, Jesus.
There are VERY few requirements to "be a Christian" and zero formalities. God expects us to believe in him, believe he sent his son as a sacrifice, follow the basic rules of the ten commandments, tell others about our relationship with God, give part of what we earn to help others (God wants us to also experience a small level of sacrifice), and to have fellowship with others.
Talking to God is even easier, you just have to do it. Imagine you were talking to your mom or dad, telling them about your day, the good, the bad, the experiences you are thankful for, the things you had trouble dealing with, etc.
Modern organized religion has made it complicated so the church has purpose and a reason to fill the seats (and collect money). The biblical church was a group of folks gathering at Bob's house on a Thursday evening to sing, pray, eat some food, and enjoy each other's company while talking about God.
