A problem of mine

A friend from work,that I knew for only 3 days then,got badly hurt on the job.Everything happened quickly and we managed to get him to the hospital,to prevent any future complications.But in all that time,even though I knew I had to help him,I didnt feel anything more than that,no sympathy or any other strong feeling.I was completely calm and not stunned by the situation.Is this selfishness?Or is it normal?

@Monte123,
It's the way emergency workers want people to react. Do the work, get help, don't get emotional.

@ehBeth,
Yes,but is it unnormal to feel absolutely phlegmatic about everything thats going on around you?

@Monte123,

you've only known him for a few days, so it's perfectly natural for you to feel that way...

Are there instances where you've felt empathy for anyone?
