Which sounds better: "He single-handedly translated the article" or "He translated the article single-handedly", and why?

Adverbs of manner are usually placed after the main verb, thus: he translated the article single-handedly; he ran fast; she told her story calmly. However it is possible to place the adverb before the verb. This places emphasis on the adverb: she calmly announced that she had fallen in love with someone else; she quickly finished her dinner.

However if you place this particular adverb after the verb, remove the final -ly: he translated the article single-handed.

Note that some adverbs are always placed after the verb: well, badly, hard, fast.
