Masala chai is laced with karha — a spice mixture that lends the tea a sweet scent and flavor of cardamom , a spicy kick of ground ginger , and on occasion , the aroma and taste of whole spices like peppercorns , cloves , cinnamon , fennel and star anise . The comforting familiar flavors of spices make masala chai a favorite with most Indians .
I would be happy if someone could explain the pros and cons properly.
I'm an American. Chai has been around for a few years now over here, and while I don't dislike it, I fail to see what is special about it. It is generally high priced compared to other teas, herbal or otherwise.
I do notice that most of its adherents seem to be women, I do not know why that would be so. For me, it's just okay for an occasional change.
