Personally, Kelly is the better of the two. Her range and vocal ability is not only stronger, but her voice is more crisp, tight, and multidimensional. Taylor on the other hand, sounds good in the studio, but put her on stage, and she couldn't hold a candle to Kelly in the studio OR live. Go to YouTube and look some videos up and compare for yourself. Comparing these two singers is like comparing a howling dog to Mariah Carey. And I mean during the years before Mariah sold herself out in favor of a more "ghetto-fab-o-lous", manufactured image.

I don't think Taylor Swift ever advertised herself as the possessor of a super strong voice. She started out as a rather interesting teenage country-folk artist who, though young, mostly wrote her own songs to some sort of country-pop video megastar whose songs seems to concern themselves with the latest gossip about her more than anything else.
Kelly Clarkson definitely has the stronger voice, but is not quite as large a star.
