Don't usually care for monster movies, but I loved "The House of Wax". Does that count?

@Phoenix32890,
I suppose House of Wax fits the monster movie genre. Paris Hilton is definitely a monster.

@tsarstepan,
No, not that one. I meant the one with Vincent Price from 1953, in 3D!!!

@tsarstepan,
War of the Worlds, the latest one with Tom Cruise. I really didn't care for the first one.

@coluber2001,
The first one just kind of drags along.

@edgarblythe,
I suppose a lot of it is just the special effects. But the whole thing was just terrifying.

@coluber2001,
You would think if the Martians knew how to conquer Earth that they would know about germs.

@edgarblythe,
The movie leaves a lot of questions if you think about it. If they were so anthropocentric and geocentric that they would unthinkingly destroy all life on other planets, then how did they survive themselves? Are they monolithic like ants?

Or maybe it's just us projecting an enemy as totally sociopathic as we usually do to an enemy that we are at war with.

As far as their inability to deal with Earth's microorganisms, I might say that we have the same problem ourselves. It seems like some microorganisms evolve so fast--especially viruses--that we have a hard time keeping up with them. .

I suppose when we bring up the term sociopathic culture everybody thinks of the Third Reich. If they had developed the bomb a few years earlier than us then we'd all be 6ft blue-eyed blondes.

But even the Third Reich had its dissenters and assassination attempts on Hitler.

Not getting to the level of the first "Alien", more recently, Life is a pretty nice movie!

So you liked "Life"? I wasn't sure how they would do with that. I'll have to give that one a look at some point.
