Please help! We are desperate to find the answer. Please help if you can. Thank you. Our Labrador Shadow started having mucus covered stool a couple months ago. Then she started having diarrhea with blood in it. She was given dewormer and antibiotics and got better. A month later the mucus covered stool returned for a couple of days and then severe watery, bloody diarrhe again. Her white blood count went to zero. Then the vet thinks she has an auto immune defiency where the bone marrow does not make white blood cells. They also think she has inflammatory bowel syndrome. She has been given 6 different antibiotics and is on prednisone for the auto immune. She is losing muscle mass daily. She is weak and pants due to the prefnisone. Has anyone ever had a pet with these symptoms? Did they find out what it wad? The vets are only guessing, they cant seem to pinpoint the problem any help would be greatly appreciated. It is breaking my heart to watch her go through this. I pray daily for God to heal my baby. This is so horrible.
@rcurls,
Did you feed the dog anything made by Pedigree? Check the complaints on that dog foods.
@seac,
Thank you very much for your response. She was actually on a home made recipe of chicken and rice. She had been on this diet for 6 years and no problems, and then this. We switched her to a hydrolized protein diet and she seems to be doing well on it. Doctors say she also has an auto immune deficiency in which her bone marrow is not generating white blood cells. Prednisone is regulating the auto immune deficiency, but I am wondering if the prednisone is contributing to the elevated liver values?
