Breakup

After just a year of being together, my boyfriend and I broke up.

When we were together, he talked to his ex (non-romantically) and had her as a facebook friend. Even after I mentioned that this bothered me, he never tried breaking ties with her.

She also become crazy and jealous and tried multiple times to cause us to break up. My ex never once saw this as an issue or confronted her about it.

Another issue I had was with his friends. For seemingly no reason they hated me and were cruel and nasty to me. A few times this happened on Facebook, and I'm sure my boyfriend saw but he did not defend me or ask them to stop. When I mentioned his friend was a jerk, he got angry and told me not to say that about him.

I can understand seriously caring about a friend you've known for years, but shouldn't he have at least stood up for me?

The breakup was messy and strange and for whatever reason I keep blaming myself for it. I also keep thinking how I am still in love with him and would do anything to get back together. We broke up 8 months ago.

@saraalbaba2,
It's interesting how we can stick ourselves with people that are such a poor match and then convince ourselves we're in love. I think it boils down to a lack of confidence and self esteem. Work on those two, find people to go casually hang out with, find a hobby, and maybe even talk to an actual counselor. 8 months is quite a long time to still be hung up over this guy (especially since you were only together a year).
