Mike wants to enter a secret society, but needs to pass the final test. Another applicant starts the test and hears a voice that says 12. The applicant answers with 6, and is now a member of the secret society. Another applicant starts the test and hears a voice that says 6. the applicant answers with 3, and is now a member of the secret society. Thinking he had heard enough, Mike starts his test and hears a voice that says 88, what number should Mike say?
PS. the answer is not 44

The answer is 14 or 11
Both are correct for different reasons.

Hi I am still looking for the answer, they gave me a hint. This is pure logic no need to do math.

Twelve = 6 letters
Six = 3 letters
EightyEight = 11 letters
Also:
12*2=24 2+4=6
6*2=12 1+2=3
88*2=176 1+7+6=14
So, two possible answers.
