Let me briefly introduce myself. I live in Brazil and I recently became an abstract art enthusiast.
I decided to give it a try and create my own pollock like art but I absolute lack the knowledge and technique to do so (limited to some research online - articles, YouTube videos, etc).
I actually feel good about the results so far using gloss enamel - actually house paint, but i definitely need some help in order to figure out how to better prepare the paint (when paint dries it gets a lot of wrinkles.
I have been using low budget primed canvas (no additional preparation) and house paint - gloss alkyd enamel diluted with mineral spirits.
I would really appreciate if you could share a few tips so I can make the next step in the evolution as an amateur artist.
General tips on (1) how to buy on budget and prepare the canvas for gloss alkyd enamel; (2) how to buy/prepare the enamel paint (reducer, hardener, etc); and (3) how to avoid the wrinkles, would be of an extraordinary help.
Some additional context, I live in Rio de Janeiro, a usually wet city with temperatures ranging from 80/90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
Best regards
@Venturarj,
You could use good information; I'm no one to advise, but I played early with house paint, and so on. I moved on to oils, not that you have to.
Thanks for the advice!
however, I will try to stick with the gloss enamel for a while... Do you have an idea of how to get rid of the paint wrinkles? Hardeners, reducers, thinners, etc? That would be of great help!
