Great steak from The Stockyard Inn in Chicago - no idea if it is there anymore, likely not, as the stockyard is gone.
I'll add to the list later, but I want to mention a favorite food writer, Jonathan Gold. I think he now writes for the Los Angeles Times, but he used to write for LA Weekly, Los Angeles Magazine and Gourmet Magazine (as NY City food critic) some time ago. Apparently he has a book.. also got a Pulitzer Prize for his writing.
Anyway, he has always been "a good read" for me, and I learned a lot from him.
