can anyone help me with this question ??
A chili recipe calls for ground beef, beans, green pepper, onion, chili powder, crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. You have lost the directions about the order in which to add the ingredients, so you decide to add them in a random order.
(a) What is the probability that the first ingredient that you add is crushed tomatoes?
(b) What is the probability that the ingredients are added in the exact order listed above?
@safwat,
a) 12.5%
b) 7x7 + 7x6 + 7x5 + 7x4 + 7x3 + 7x2 + 7x1 =
Don't wager your life on it. I took statistics in college over 50 years ago.
@safwat,
There are eight items so the chance you add tomatoes first is 1 in 8 or 12.5%
There are 8! permutations of eight items. Only one is the order listed above, so one in 8! or 1/40320.
@engineer,
Hey! Ya gotta give me credit for try'n.
