For the second one, here is the pic with the writing on lower left of the artwork:



The top line says "Velho (something) do mar". When put through Google Translate, it becomes:
"Old (something) of the sea". I imagine that's the title of the work.

The second line just says:
"(Something) Portugal".

Velho lobo do mar (Portuguese) = old sea dog (English)

Nazaré is a popular seaside resort in Portugal.

The other (first) picture appears to be signed by "Lovis Corinth", and dated 1938, which is weird, because the (fairly) well known German painter of that name was born in 1858 and died in 1925.



It doesn't even look like his style, which is more like this:

That book's title translates to "Lovis Corinth, the self-portraits". He looks like my kind of guy.
