Had an extension cord next to my couch plugged in with my phone charger. Extension cord is attached to a surge suppressor. I started noticing a funny smell from the extension cord where the phone charger was. I unplugged the extension cord from the surge suppressor and the smell still persisted. I then went to unplug the surge suppressor from the wall and noticed that the linings of the sockets looked a bit corroded, but not burned. I am going to have my landlord come and look at it tomorrow ---- in the meantime, do I need to turn off the circuit breaker for that outlet or will it be fine to just let it be as it is without anything plugged into it? Thank you, thank you.
