Low Wattage with higher output ceiling light

I have a ceiling light with 3 small 25 watt round incandescent candelabra bulbs. It is not very bright at all. The warning note on the unit says 25 watt max.
Question: Can I use the newer type LED bulbs that use less wattage, say 4 or 6 watt but provide 40 or 60 watt lighting ? Will this overheat the unit ?

@coluccija,
Col I'd think it'd work just fine. However from what you say I presume the unit contains some sort of semiconductor to control brightness and therefore you should consult its maker about this

...'cause semis act diff than fils
