How many days in a row can you wear the same pants?

Reply Tue 26 Oct, 2004 02:44 pm
I never wear the same pants two days in a row. I will wear pants twice before washing them, but never twice in a row.

My friend, on the other hand, will wear the same pants up to three days in a row, then another pair for three days in a row, and on like that.

So how many days in a row should pants be worn?

And what about shirts, sweaters, underwear, etc.?

What is the proper rotation and repetition of wear?

I don't like repeats on anything that touches skin.
I do a lot of laundry.

I wash the pants when the sitting wrinkles start to look permanent. Otherwise, no smell, no wash.

Socks and underwear get changed every day.

Pants I'll wear 2-3 times assuming normal everday usage. I'll wear it twice in a row if I see different people the second day.

Shirts are changed everyday as well (unless it is my favorite T... then I'll keep it around for a day or two longer.

Sweaters and sweat-shirts are at least a 3 usage item.

Whatever happened to "if it's solid, wash it?" Just kidding. The proper thing to do, if yer a guy, is to stockpile tons of underwear, pants and shirts, and then do laundry once a week. Shirts can do double duty, unless you sweat alot. As for sweaters, you need to be more specific. Are we talking cotton knit, wool, cotton-poly blend, or just plain weird-ass synthetic? (My grandparents owned a dry cleaner shop)

On a very rare occasion I have worn jeans two days in a row - not full days. For instance say I changed into jeans late afternoon or evening. I have worn the same pair the next morning, but only if I do not see the same people and of course only if they are still clean.

Shirts and underwear always need to be cleaned - sweaters you can wear a handful of times depending if you wear a shirt underneath and how dirty you are.

I also will not wear the same outfit more than once a week whether it has been washed or not.

When I was in the military, I was guilty of wearing the same shirt all week. It was just too much work to wash it, but I tried to change it after 3 days. This was when I finally got what I needed to always have 2 uniforms ready. The pants have gone a week too.

As far as civilian clothes:

pants: usually wear at least 3 times before I wash them

t-shirts: once

nice shirts: twice

skirts: since I probably only had them on for an hour for church, ...jeez, maybe 14 times. Embarrassed

sweaters: depends on the material. i have a wool sweater that I don't remember ever being washed. but it doesn't stink. cotton sweaters, i can wear all week to class when it gets too cold.

Okay, I'm trying to figure out how you keep track of this. Does it involve entries in MS Outlook and MS Access?

Shirts, underwear and socks, changed daily. Bras changed daily and hand-washed, regardless of what the care label says (they have a much longer useful life if they don't bounce around in the dryer where the underwires can mate with the socks and thereby wreak havoc). Pants, hmm, unless the weather is hot (hence, sweat), about once per week or until dirty or smelly or walking around by themselves. Fresh clothes for going out, job interviews, that sort of thing, but for knocking around, it seems silly to keep changing pants that are more or less clean.

Was that sentence confusing? Or are you just messing with me? Or both? Maybe I should have said "I will wear pants twice before washing them, but never two days in a row.

No Microsoft products necessary.

So the twice means, two nonconsecutive days? I'm actually (believe me, here, I have this bridge to sell you) confused, is it, like Monday and Wednesday the khakis, then Tuesday and Thursday, the blue jeans, then Friday and Sunday the black jeans, and Saturday is, um, free-for-all pantless day?

You're killing me. Smile

Yes, twice means two non-consecutive days.

It's more like Monday the brown pants, tuesday, the dark green pants, wednesday the black pants, thursday maybe the brown pants again, friday the black pants, etc. It's true that I don't pay that much attention to which pants I'm wearing for the second time, so it is possible that I have worn pants more than twice during one wash cycle, which for me is about once every 11 or 12 days.

There, does that clear it up?

It also depends on how wrinkled they are. I'd like to wear certain clothes a lot longer, but it's easier just to stick them in the wash again than to bring out the iron.
