Hello, I recently purchased a wartime refugee style suitcase. I believe it to be from the WW2 era. Inside the case on the base is a circular stamp which reads "Admiralty Inspection Delmeny" with an anchor symbol & No.5 in the middle.
I believe Delmeny relates to a base in Scotland.
Inside the rim of the lid are the initials L.E.a. , the L & E appear to be in Capital format with the "a" in lower case , these could be a refugees initials maybe or a Naval member of a department. I have a fairly good photograph of the stamp but I can't see anywhere to attach it to this information.
If anyone could shed any light on the relevance of the case & its stamp I would be grateful.
Regards
