Does solar panels on rooftops operate similarly on solar cars?

Solar panels of the photovoltaic type convert sunlight to electricity for either immediate use (e.g. to rotate a motor, feed to the grid) or storage (e.g. in a battery or supercapacitor). This is true whether they are on the roof of a house or on a car.
