We ran down to the lake and looked at the tiny fish that were swimming around.
We= Subject
ran down to the lake and looked at = verb phrase
the tiny fish= adjective phrase
that were swimming around= Subordinate clause

Correct or not?

Tof I know nothing a bout grammar but I do ha e a comment or two for what it's worth

'We ran down to the lake' leaves me wondering how steep and why you ran; since jogging you're very likely to stumble, Fall. Yea turrible pun

Yes sorta kidding, just reacting to a sudden mind's eye. However we might've concluded, 'to watch the tiny fish swim around'


Yea, Dale's an awful fussbudget

Actually Tof, 'running on down to the lake' is perfect;y collo, I suppose since lakes are necessarily a few feet lower than the immediate surroundings. I am wondering however, if the lake were actually situated at ah higher altitude, whether we might not express the trip in those terms

Probably there's suggestion of a car in the 'running'. So if the lake were higher, I suspect we might 'run on up'
