Parents won't accept relationship

You and your BF are going to have to decide if you are going to follow such cultural restrictions on relationships.

Think about it: what could possibly be shameful about two people from the same village having a relationship? Is there fear of inter-breeding? A caste system? What is the reason?

In todays world, your parents seem to be being prideful.

What could be shameful is that it's been a long held tradition in India for 2 people from the same village to not marry. There have been many honor killings over this.

The OP uses the phrase "back in India " as if they no longer live there. However it is naive to think don't still follow the ways people have lived for generations.

If I was this woman, I too would be afraid of being killed if my family felt this strongly.

This is far beyond anything I could offer, or comments such as the parents can go **** themselves or suggestions that the parents who have strongly held values aren't part of "today's world"

They are part of today's world. They just aren't part of your world.
