I thought I would inquire here first, as I am not so confident in the guidance of the SS office.

I am 65 and have been drawing my SS since 62. My wife is 64, is not drawing any benefit, and is still working. Question: Is SHE eligible to draw a spousal benefit now? ...... Thanks

Call the SS office. They are great on the phone.

But here's some info just on-line:

@PUNKEY,
Thanks Punky, but I will assume THAT depends on who you talk to, and what they know. I will call them, but thought I would get some recipient opinions first.

First of all, as far as I understand the rules, a spousal benefit is payable only on the death of one of the spouses. In this case you ( age 65) would have to die in order for your wife to then receive your SS benefits..

As suggested, a good source for info is at a nearby SS office, You might want to reserve a time slot to see them, so that you have enough time for your visit.
