mold on seams of drywall?

hi all -- I removed some 1980's wood paneling today. There's drywall behind the paneling. Where each peiee of paneling meets, there's brown / black compound type material -- it's shinny up close. I have pics but can't find the upload widget

Most likely its dirt that has gotten in between the seams.

Use a bleach with water solution and wipe down an area .
Dont get it too wet. Let dry and see

@pamabo,
It's more than likely just dirt. Mold needs water/moisture to survive, and it's not likely to exist between wood paneling on the wall.
