hi , my name is omid.
i'm Iranian
I can't speak english well . so forgive me for written problems.
few month ago I bring out a little magnet from speaker of toy of my brother.
I connect it to some metals that was around of me.
and at the same time I understand a thing that I dont know it before.
when I connect it to some long hollow metals(for example leg of the chair) with different forms I see different reaction from magnet.
if it have cube shape (with Square superficies) the round magnet came down but if it have Cylindrical shape the magnet turned Parallel to the ground and don't came down.
I want to know why?

Omid do you man that when you placed the magnet on the bottom of the cube it fell off but not from the sphere

I'd expect just the opposite

@Curious Man,
The surface area between the magnet and the metal affects the force and friction.
