1 Corinthians 13:4-8New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
First time I said I love one to someone other then family she ended and late said "I don't love you and I am using you". Don't really think I should let any body else in. I see this country the state we are in how the wealth inequality of the world has become. However I pray. I know people who have exchanged vows and I truly believe they love each other however it doesn't work and they get divorced. I was always raised with my parents who fought but they worked it out. Honestly if you love somebody you work it out with them because how often do you fall in love? Even though it is a chemical reaction in the brain. Google it if you want. So tell me why does this say it always perseveres?
The bible says to be discerning. That means to make good judgement.
You chose the wrong person to profess your love. That was your error.
@Treamsma,

Yep, cocaine is said by science to cause the exact same response in the brain as 'love'.
So one of the two was wrong about what love is. Which do you think got it wrong, science or the bible?
@Treamsma,
Love is a two-way street. Just because you love someone does not mean that they love you. You can't make someone love you no matter how much you love them. She said it, "I don't love you and I am using you". The KJV version of this biblical text you quoted is far more beautiful. Candlelight8
@Treamsma,
I meant to add - You obviously didn't read the part that goes " Love seeks not it's own" enough times. Just because you love someone doesn't mean you get to keep them.
@Treamsma,
There are lots of us who have left the Christian faith and have found more full, meaningful lives without it. I don't feel I "lost" faith. I didn't lose anything. When the religion I was taught stopped making sense, I made the decision to look for something better.
Let me know if you would like to hear the testimony of someone who found that life was better without the Christian faith.
