When referring to the World Championships (in anything), they are often referred to as "the World's." Should it be World's or Worlds?

It should be World's as the implication is for the Championships.
The title is World Championship. It is a formal title and does not change.
He won the World Championship in skateboarding.
If you are talking about the award in a casual way, use 's.
He won the world's championship last week.

CJ is correct; it's used as a possessive.
