@Billygoat2000,
One of those times you're talking, ask her, "Do you want to continue this conversation? Let's go to Starbucks (or whatever the equivalent is in your area)."
Don't make it a date. Don't pay unless she just doesn't have the cash, or tell her you'll float her a loan (but don't push to collect it; we're going for a
no problem, no obligation, not fraught with meaning vibe here).
Have your conversation. Let it meander but don't overdo it. Give yourself an hour for it. Then, sorry, but you've got to go. Homework, swim team practice, you have chores to do, you have to finish the seams on your Captain America cosplay - whatever.
End the meeting with, "Let's do this again some time. See ya!" Friendly smile and wave. If you had to drive her then of course drive her home. Otherwise, same thing.
It's not a date. It's not a kissing occasion. You're just out for coffee (or soda, or ice cream, etc.) with a friend. Period.
Do maybe one more of these. At the end of it say something like, "I had a really good time. Let's make the next one a date."
And see what happens.
