When I click on save, the drop down menu comes up, but when I move the cursor, the drop down menu disappears and I cannot click to save the document. Anybody know what I did wrong?

I'm not familiar with your problem, but did you try to reboot your computer?

I am reluctant to shut down the word processor, because the document could be lost.
I will shut down Works in the morning and see what happens. I do have the document on disc, but I make lots of mistakes. Hopefully everything will work out.

Before closing it, try to save using "<CRTL> s" or "Apple key s" if you are on a Mac.
ctrl got it to show I now have a read only document. It cannot be saved. Don't know how it happened. I hope the disc copied it for me. I do have it on paper, but it is so long to be typed again. Thanks.
I ran the curser down the screen and it showed some options as it passed over certain spots. I found a way to select the document and then to cut and paste in a new document. It is now restored. Whew.

As PDiddie advised me, Get rid of Works for a program that automatically saves your work.
