Started reading the Graham Greene book, The Power and the Glory, published in 1940 about Mexico in the 1930s. One detail stood out. Four pesos to one dollar. It's now 18.9 pesos to the dollar. I think I remember it being far worse in the recent past.
Why was the Peso so strong back then or the dollar so weak? I figure part of the equation was the Great Depression weakened the dollar. Anything else involved in the equation?
@tsarstepan,
Wow! We are fools for not vacationing in Mexico. The last time I was there it was about 13.5 pesos to the dollar.
