Well, a load cell is a transducer.

In an elevator, it's used to prevent overloading with people or any kind of load.

A Load Cell is defined as a transducer that converts an input mechanical force into an electrical output signal. Load Cells are also commonly known as Load Transducers or Load Sensors.

I guess a load cell belongs to the field of specialized knowledge.

Your gigantic unabridgeds deal with more general knowledge, therefore useless in cases like this one.

A few precise keywords on a search engine can palliate that inconvenience.
