Jane Jacobs believed cities should be fun — and changed urban planning forever

We New Yorkers (and other city dwellers across the United States) owe her a great debt of gratitude for standing up to monsters and bullies like Robert Moses.

@tsarstepan,
I read her Life and Death of American Cities at least twice, second time more sketchily, but she was a key writer for those of us taking classes in planning and landuse. I hope her writing is still taken seriously. My book was pretty crumpled over the years (I've been known to sleep on books) and I gave mine to an architect friend, never did get another copy. I should have, as that one was a keeper.
