@TheCobbler,
Not having to read a post about it would be the holly grail for me.

@TheCobbler,
Knowledge that the serpent allowed mankind.
The knowledge that 'god-the-dictator' tried to deny us.
Think about it.

@mark noble,
...how much knowledge is healthy knowledge when you have abysses and mountains that stretch almost to infinity...

...what is the extension of knowledge that functionally fits our needs...we are ants.Reality is large.
(Being an information junkie never would have guessed I would one day write this)

@Fil Albuquerque,
Then there is no meaning to life, beyond one's own agenda?

@Fil Albuquerque,
Indeed.
But, without an 'intended' intent, on behalf of a 'destination'. Why, less altruism, do we... invest?

@mark noble,
Two major rules at play:
First order rule - Compete always when its advantageous to compete.
Second order rule - Cooperate only when cooperation brings you a bigger reward then competing.

...so in sum yes we only do altruistic acts when we can see an obvious advantage in cooperating...recent problem being the degree of complexity of modern life does not always makes it obvious that you should cooperate. Many people compete when they ought to cooperate. It may well be a fatal failure of the species...that is to mean, we may not have critical mass in abstract thought to pass this stage of evolution...we should have global rules in a global economy, but the little cerebellum bastard keeps tricking people into competing out of their small group of reference when they should not.

Thanks for the comments people!

I have been putting some thought into this.

What is the holy grail?

The holy grail is an ideal, a story where symbolism is carried logically through an allegory.

The main understanding is that the holy grail is "the word".

The word is the mechanism where knowledge is relayed. (gnosis)

So we have cisterns filled with words, each cistern is a new religion.

They all drink the words from the religions before them. In the beginning was the word.

Though the thought seems barbaric and uncivilized were one to put blood into this cup, then the symbol of the word travels to this spilling of blood and the word becomes a law. Thou shalt not murder.

The word becomes flesh.

The cup of Christ is the body of words that express the heart of the Christian religion. Though the Christian religion drank from the cups before it, it is in itself its own cup.

So it would seem that drinking from the holy grail one would become knowledgeable about the matters of the Christian spiritual experience.

Thus the Christian rules and standards are a product of the words that teach the doctrine.

Once blood is used as a symbol then the preserving of blood becomes an issue also.

The preserving of the word.

The knights Templar defending the cup of Christ.

Because this cup required learning knowledge this is why it was romantically referred to as a "search" for the holy grail.

One drinks from the cup and one eats the words and the understanding of the words produce the person who believes the words.

This "spirit" is born through the drinking of the words.

Thy words were found and I did eat them.

Then I did drink them.

Jeremiah 2:13
...hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Broken cups that can hold no water.

When you drink from the broken cup it leaves you thirsty and dry because it is empty.

Empty or lying words.

Words that bring tragedy and downfall.

Idle words, words of pride and boasting.

We fill ourselves with words and become a slave to their influence.

Under the influence of words.
Yet somewhere in the whole mess we hope to find the right words.

The words that will justify our existence and give us hope.

Truth...

@Fil Albuquerque,
"thriving"? for who/m?
And how are you aiding this 'mandatory' process?

In the beginning was the word.

The word was holy and pure.

The word was spoken between God and humans and there was no doubt of God's existence.

There was no need for belief or faith because the word was God.

Then instead of only the holy word of God there also became fallen unholy words.

The unholy words are the oldest history records and it is our quest in life to rediscover the lost holy words that are from before the beginning of history.

@TheCobbler,
Beginning of what?
Everything else you type - is another's 'OPINION' you choose to accept.
Do you have evidence? No.

@mark noble,
If we evolved we were once nothing more than dumb animals. We learned to talk and in the beginning was "the word".

You don't need evidence to know this, all you need is simple induction.

And what is the evidence I have that history exists? Books?

The first human words were (speculatively) pure and unadulterated by religious motivations, governments or one's own manipulative will.

Thus the term is used going "back to the garden"...

The assumption is in the garden there was a pure language that was changed and obliterated by evil over time.
