Unable to play a game in facebook Scrabble app w/fb friend

I have begun several games with a Facebook friend on the Facebook Scrabble app and he has not received them. He has also begun a couple games with me but I do not see them in my games list. Both of us are able to play other games with random opponents and I am able to play games with other Facebook friends. We both accessed the app the same way - on our Samsung laptops using Chrome with the same link provided in the games menu on Facebook.
