lf you read your bible you will see that it was the Pharasees that proclaimed that Jesus was not the son of god, then they gave Jesus up to the people.
PS The Pharasee priests were jews.

In fact the meaning of 'pharisee' (small 'p') is derived from the general sanctimonious (phony holier than thou) attitude of the Pharisees (capital 'p') rather than their actions in the Jesus story.
