A forum is a word with many associations, not least with the Roman Forum of thousands of years ago.

My impression is that a lot of people think a forum is a website, but I'm not sure that is what people in Information Technology (IT) call it. Presently at A2K, Tags are forums. You can put a word or subject you are interested in on the Search Forums window (see New Posts if you can't easily find it) and find forums about all sorts of subjects.
Some people come here thinking it is all about the plight of married people having affairs, or about baking cakes, or political matters - but this and likely other websites can be about a huge number of subjects.
