All right?
Glad to be here, I'm Rincewind (a nut for Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams), etc. I live in an Islington flat (which, at the moment, smells strongly of cheesy bubble and squeak). I work in an office, where occasionally someone puts someone else's Biros in a jelly.

Thank god for Britain. If it wasn't for them, you'd not be able to find any decent bubble and squeak anywhere.
I don't think it really matter where, as long as you get welcomed. So cheers, welcome to a2k!!!
I never go there, though. This is good.
Rincewind, I can just tell, you're going to fit in real well here.
Another brit !! good !!!
Welcome rincewind !!
Welcome aboard.
My wife made bubble and squeak once years ago. It was, er, um, memorable.
What on earth is bubble and squeak?????
Oh, sorry, that wasn't very polite...
Welcome, Rincewind!
haha

well, bubble= effervescence squeak = to creak
for JimĀ“s family probably a dish with soap... (just kidding)
Bubble and Squeak
2 1/2 pounds potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup milk
salt and pepper to taste
4 slices bacon , cubed
1/2 small head cabbage
1 large onion chopped
1/4 cup butter, melted
Place potatoes in a saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, until tender. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, reserving drippings, crumble and set aside. In the reserved drippings, saute the cabbage and onion until soft and translucent. Putting a lid on the pan helps the vegetables cook faster. Drain the cooked potatoes, mash with milk and season with salt and pepper. Fold in the cabbage and onions, then transfer the mixture to a large serving bowl. Make a well in the center, and pour in the melted butter or else make it into a cake and fry till browned. Serve immediately with hot mustard on the side or horseradish. I also frequently use packaged mashed potatoes with cheese instead of making mashed potatoes from scratch. In that case, omit the melted butter. And one can use half a pound of smoked sausage instead of the bacon.
Welcome Rincewind!
well, a dish according to noises. Interesting..
Thanks, Cav. That sounds very interesting!
In the truest sense of the word.
Ha ha.
I pretty much grew up on the bleedin stuff. Mashed Cheesy Bubble & Squeak when I was little, pre-cut when I was growing up, and by the buckets in my teen years (only joking. It was buckets all the way through!). I love making clocks and clockwork things, listening to music (classical, broadway, oldies, and Queen), reading, and just sitting round the telly and watching good ol' Britcoms (is that what you call them?)!
