yet, in tech speak, be it UK or Merkin, we all talk of "math proofs" (whenever its used as an adjective).
One of your countrymen tried to argue that you deny the collective nature of the word "math" and insist on a plural form as a contraction from mathematics. Doesnt mean either yours or ours is "more" correct.

Like kebab or kebob. Its linguistic micro evolution.

We all must agree that no matter how it is differentiated on one side of the Pond or the t'other, the term Math is a shortened term for Mathematics. On this side of the Pond, clearly Maths is not a term that is used.
