Old time Abuzzers would remember her well. She is remembered there in a thread
reembering Paola
I remember her. Sorry for the bad news.
This will be the first time since more than two, I'll go back to a****.
Thanks, Edgar.
I remember her well. My deepest condolences. Abuzz has turned into a forum for spammers and cretens. She will be missed.
Maybe this is not the right time to ask, but who was Paola?
Poalo was a member on another, where some have been (or still are) before.
She was a really lovable person, well educated, travelled and ...
A writer/author (cook and travel books), lived in Italy and New York.
Are there any web sites about her?
Well, at amzon etc. and elsewhere - but under her real name.
Sad news indeed. I'll miss her, but I'm the richer for having made her acquaintance. I do hope her good freind Ossobuco bears this well.
I'll wade into the swamp over there and try to find the Paola memorial. Thanks for the headsup, edgar.
Our old friend Vincent popped this in the Food and Drink forum:

It seems like a good place to start our own tribute.
There is good, here is good, cav, or mebbe a dedicated thread in "General", should someone care to open one. Lets see what develops.
BTW ... for those interested, Paola
made a few visits to A2K
Vincent has a thread going on the a2k food forum about Paola.
She was a remarkable woman. Friends said she was also extraordinarily generous. It is a very sad passing... so much knowledge and wisdom lost, like a star going out.

Reading her posts was creepy.
My condolences.
Ah, piffka, those flowers brought tears to my eyes.
Paola was generous. She was smart and kind, two attributes not always found together. She was creative - made some wonderful quilts of her own patterns. Always helpful, another aspect of her generosity. She had a loving husband and children, and a very interesting life.

edit to mention that I forgot another adjective, courageous.
The brightest stars never burn out. As long as we remember them, so shall they live.
I am secure in thinking that Paola was one of the brightest.
It's always sad to hear of 'one of us' passing.
Yes it is ... and I think it points us all to the overall good of being together while we may, and honoring that fellowship in remembrance of those who've gone on.
'Nuff said; I'm getting all warm and misty. I'm gonna go kill somethin' now, and come back when I feel better.
I'm back after one of our galleryopenings, to mention that my post earlier was a little truncated and sounds sort of greeting cardish even to me.. I got a call when I was typing it and had to rush to work.
I wanted to add that Paola was cool in what might be a Roman way or maybe was just her.. she had a combination of openness and privacy (combined with straightforwardness) that was well tuned.. it added up to a personal elegance at the same time she personified all the other things I said, like her being generous.
I was not familiar with Paola. My condolences go out to those of you who knew and loved her and those whose lives she enriched.
thanks, doglover.
She was an abuzz pal'o'mine who I ended up meeting a few times on my short visit to new york in april '03.. She knew she was facing it then, and still was gracious and generous and wise and witty.
