@Sowell-Dean,
This is how big the Florida panhandle is. Which small strip of piney woods do you inquire about?

The Florida Panhandle, an informal, unofficial term for the northwestern part of Florida, is a strip of land roughly 200 miles long and 50 to 100 miles wide

@Sowell-Dean,
I'll tell you one snake for sure that resides there...water moccasin (water snake). Another land-based resident are rattlers, too.

When in doubt, Google it.

"In addition to the cottonmouth, the list of venomous snakes includes the canebrake rattlesnake, Eastern diamondback, pygmy rattlesnake, copperhead and coral snake.

The canebrake, also called a timber rattler, is the rarest of the group."

All told, there are only six species of venomous snakes and more than 40 non- venomous species found in Florida. In addition to the cottonmouth, the list of venomous snakes includes the canebrake rattlesnake, Eastern diamondback, pygmy rattlesnake, copperhead and coral snake.
