Please please do!
I just had fun testing how to move posts
and split threads.
It's not that
complicated is it? ;-(
I'll make this more user friendly soon. There are so many little details that I need to do but
soon this should be a piece of cake.
You're right
Craven.....It isn't THAT complicated.
Each time I visit, it gets easier.
SMILE!!
Doesn't seem like
it wants me to register. Is that important?
Rae,
Lemme
know if something seems to complicated.
Roger,
What happened when you tried to register?
This time it
was:
Proxy Error
The proxy server receivd an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could
not handle the request GET/cravendekere/formus/profile.php.
Reason: Could not connect to remote machine:
Connection timed out.
Previous attempt was different, but I don't recall the verbage. I think it was something in
regard to something being unrecognized.
By the way, Betty has tried and says her mail service was not recognized. Mine
was a different message than that.
Your error message
sounds like a host problem, if you'd like I can set it up for you, just tell me what email to use. I'll set it up with a
temporary password (that you can change later).
Letty's error message sounded like she entered her email in an
invalid format.
I'll email her and get this resolved.
Can't have the resident witch locked out can we?
You'd risk being
hexed......heaven forbid.
No, can't make it
without Letty.
SpellCheck didn't give much help, but I'm used to that. It would be nice to see all messages at
once, but maybe I just haven't dug into it enough.
Thanks for the help.
Roger
I'm running out the
door right now but I'll make your account and send you yr info tonight.
There is not yet an all in one feature but
there are a few things that work in a similar way. Right now memvers can click on a link and it will show all the posts that
have been made since the last visit.
I'm also making a "view the last 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours"
thingie.
More on this later but these features are only available to members (it can't tell you what's new if it
doesn't know who you are) so you won't have seen them yet.
As to the spell check I have been corresponding with the
authors of that code and we will work together to improve the dictionary.
I have been planning an all the boards in
one feature with you in mind for a while, I'll get on it but it's a bit complicated.
Okay, we're in
business and ready to start exploring. Thanks for getting me registered, Craven
Just made a couple
observations:
If you start following messages and want to return to the index, it is much
faster to get there with the browser back button than selecting "index".
At the bottom of the index, there is a block
showing how many members are on site. Would have loved this at the Realm.
Jespah is lead moderator. This is a good
omen.
Two more
observations. When displaying members' profile pages, there is the option of finding all posts by that person. Haven't
tried it out, but a good option. Also on the profile page, there is a percentage of total listing. I sure hope this is a
percentage of total postings made by the member, not a percentage of some total memory allocated
to the member.
Back button of the
browser is always much faster because it doesn't fetch the page from the net, it gets it off your harddrive.
This
site won't be nearly this slow (we are using a free host in England for now, I am getting what we pay for ;-) when we move
to the final destination host.
As to the brower back button it is fast but won't really reload the page. It's fast
because it's cached on your harddrive. But what you are doing is reloading what you had seen, it won't refresh anything on
the page that way.
About the online users block on the index page: I'd love to have done this at the Realm, but it
was technically impossible since the MSN groups are limited to the most basic of webdesign.
I might add the who's
online box to every page of the forum but that depends on how fast the forum is with the added features. In any case above
the forum you can see who's browsing that forum with you at the time.
I will build on this feature to
include:
Who's in the chat room (when we have a chat room), who's visited today, and finally a little icon in member
posts that says if that member is online (not really online but rather online and on the site) or not.
Of course if
someone doesn't want to be displayed in those stats they can allways hide their online status in their
profiles.
Jespah being a moderator is fantastic! I can't agree more.
I'll remove the percentages, it's not
about allocated space but rather a percentage of total post on the board. It's not really a useful feature. For now the
percentages are skewed but eventually everyone will be around 1% and then it will indicate little. So it will be gone
soon.
There is not going to be any limit on user posing but there might be limits on file and photo uploads (not
featured yet) because someone could easily take down a site with no space limit. Text isn't a danger so there won't be any
limit on that.
I'll also include better search facilities soon (like searching for topics of a member, not just all
posts).
Golly, now yer
makin' me blush.
And I thank you.
Oh, by the way, there will be a TFH feature - of some sort -
eventually. Party on, tinfoil hatters! Love, hugs and looney tunes, jespie
