We're going to drive over to Lake Charles, LA and take Mom to the racetrack/casino on Saturday, then return to H-Town for a Sunday backyard barbecue and pool party with some of my Republican friends in the suburbs, then on Monday have brunch and watch Fahrenheit 9/11 with some of the local evilDUers (thereby cleansing myself of the previous day's exposure to Texas' unique stench of conservatism).
What're y'all doin'?
Entertaining my parents (AKA RP's in-laws), possibly catching a flick, too. They've seen F 9/11 so we may go to Spider-man II. Plus we'll barbecue, sit on the porch, and watch the passing parade. May or may not head to the Esplanade (it's always a production to go there). Happy 4th to you and yours! :-D
Thanks, jespah; back at ya.
Kicking this back up to the top, to see if anyone else has plans they'd like to tell about...
happy fourth to all our neighbours to the south
have a safe and happy holiday
Here's hoping you all have a lively, entertaining and not too sunburn inducing day!
I suspect everyone's working on the perfect bbq rub and marinade right now.
Working. Pool party all day, club all night. Singing, drinking, dj'ing, drinking, carousing, drinking,partying,........ well you get the picture.
July 5th...sleeping, vomiting, repenting, vomiting, praying, vomiting, swearing never again.....well you get the picture.
Several of the Brits on the Platform have wished me a happy 4th.
I've thanked them all, but told them if I can't celebrate with a pork BBQ and a cold beer, it just isn't the 4th to me.
thats what keeps me from drinking bi-, I remember the vomiting all too well. Did you see BAD SANTA?
gonna slaughter the sacred hog of celebration and burn his flesch in a fire pit. He will be festooned with traditional celebratory trappings such as , vinegar based bbq sauces and cooked to perfection with aa sacred bunch of tarragon leaves in a water tray to provide us with all the symbolism that is needed on this day that celebrates the founding of the barbeque nation.
I too, plan to worship at the altar of the swine....drenched in pepper vinegar, pulled directly from the holy carcass..... perhaps some slaw and brunswick stew to go along.....hush puppies of course....
Off to work...despite my tough talk the fact that I'm looking at a 16 hour work day in two different locations AND Bi-Polar Jr is with me will all work together to keep me disgustingly sober.......Happy 4th to everyone..... think of me with pity if you hear the electric slide.......
My husband's company has provided us with box seat tickets to today's Phillies game (as well as beverage allowance.) Then we're going to enjoy the festivities in the City of Brotherly Love. Block parties and city celebrations all over the place. I can't wait!
Have fun today, everyone! Happy Fourth!
We were quite busy Saturday. Today will be restful, quiet - Then we'll go to watch the fireworks in downtown Tomball this evening.
thhe holy swine is on his bed of coalws. Another 4 hours and he will be done and the priests and shaaman (and shaawomen) can tell the tales of how the nation of barbeque began.
1st. job of the day complete.....and had swine, chicken, slaw, potato salad, hush puppies, tea.
Hot pepper vinegar sauce.
Boy, did we make too many ribs. When I told Mrs F that bi- was havin hush puppies , she thought about it and made some Johny cake. Good ole traditional "Freedom from oppressive English Cuisine day"
Ribs, (way overestimated peoples appetites), Corn on the cob, slaw, johny cake, salad from our fresh new zealand spinach .
played batchi ball and sat around and yakked . It was good, but what am i gonna do with all these left over ribs?
