I work at a California community college as part of a union. Currently our employer pays the full cost of our health care insurance premiums. (The pay is lousy but at least the benefits are good.) Someone at work claims that starting in 2017 we will be required to pay a portion of our health care premiums. I have found nothing to support this claim and I want to know if anybody can point to a paragraph in the law that supports his claim. (I suspect he may be confusing employer responsibilities with employee responsibilities.)

@Helixrt,
Do you know who your shop steward is? That person would be the best source for the info.

@Butrflynet,
Our shop steward thinks I'm correct but isn't sure.

@Helixrt,
I imagine benefits are a part of the contract, and you will find nothing in the law itself on the subject.

@Helixrt,
Ask your shop steward to call the union office and verify it. That's why he is the steward. He's supposed to do things like that.
