Should I use my 'new' Autotrol 155 water softener?

Reply Mon 15 Dec, 2014 11:52 pm
Just inherited an Autotrol 155 water softener from a house my parents just bought. There was a note on it saying it was in use until 6 months ago, when the city began delivering softened water. I thought it would be as simple as plumbing it in, and turning it on. I thought wrong, again. I know very little about water softeners, and after a few hours reading online, I'm now overwhelmed. Is this a good spot to get some answers about this unit how I can getting it going properly? Brine settings, resin replacement etc. Thx

Some facts:
-Water hardness from well = 191
-Resin tank 10" diameter, approx 4+ feet tall
-Resin appears to fill the tank up to ~19" below very top of the tank
-4 people and a baby living in house
- have ample supply of Windsor System Saver II salt pellets

You can use it if it is in good condition, just you need a user manual to configure it properly, search for it in the internet.
