I need to replace the switch on a DeLonghi Solaris oil-filled radiator-style space heater. DeLonghi doesn’t offer this part. The manufacturer of this part is Chinese and doesn’t seem to sell products in the U.S. except maybe to manufacturers. I can’t find a DUAL rocker switch of a similar size with these specs: 16a 125VAC, 10a 250VAC. I don’t even know if “16a…etc” is the most important thing to look for.
MY QUESTION: I’ve found switches whose specs were close to "16a 125VAC, 10a 250VAC,” but I don’t know if I must have a perfect match or if my specs might represent minimums and the specs of other switches might indicate a broader application in which my heater would fit. It’s getting chilly in my office and I’m wondering if I have to trash this heater or if there might be a switch out there that I can use. Thanks!
MORE SPECS:
Dual rocker, 6-pin
Rocker combinations provide low, medium high and off settings.
SR-55 MM
16a 125VAC 10a 250VAC
16(4)A 250 VAC T 125/55
10(3)A 250 VAC 5E4
0727 100V-130V
Merchant Corporation Limited
Existing switch dimensions that go into hole (i.e. not including exterior frame and rockers):
3cm(L) x 22mm(W) x 26mm(D) or 1 3/16” x 7/8” x 1"
Those specs listed match the spec on the old switch.
16a 125VAC, 10a 250VAC means: current ratings 16 amps at 125 volts AC; 10 amps at 250 volts AC
I read your post again. The current ratings (10a 16a etc) are minima. Another switch with an equivalent or better (higher) rating at your local voltage (either 120v or 240 approx) will do.
