Yep, you may not like them, some may be scary, but clowning is a serious business:

The list left out Jimmy Stewart. - Well, he wasn't really a clown. He pretended to be one in The Greatest Show on Earth.

What about Imogene Coca? She did not wear grease paint, but was a clown nonetheless. She was one of the greatest!

Come to think of it, Carol Burnett belongs on the list!

I like carol Burnett.

The only clowns that have not scared me, and in addition that I have actually laughed at, were at cirque' du soleil.

Hmmm...I think the list only includes clowns in the classic tradition. When I met Mrs. cav, she was studying 'clown through mask', a Canadian clowning tradition started by Richard Pochinko, a native Canadian. Here is a link to where she studied:

So why is Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, Red Skelton and the Marx Brothers on the list?

Charlie Chaplin was a classic 'tramp' clown, Laurel and Hardy were classic 'Joey and Auguste' clowns, Red was also a classic 'tramp', and the Marx Brothers mixed it all up, each one playing a different type of clown. I love Carol Burnett...maybe she will be inducted into the clown hall of fame soon.

I am outraged that Dennis Miller did not make the list.

I'm not certain that Dennis Miller classifies as a true clown, but he's one smart and funny guy.

I was joking, of course. Listening to Dennis Miller, I have only felt one urge: "Where did I put the remote?"

I like Dennis Miller, in small doses, but football commentary just wasn't his strong point. I prefer George Carlin in terms of stand-up comedy.

Carlin is brilliant. I won't say more about Miller after this, but I truly don't get that he is billed as a comedian at all.

Let's put the final word in here regarding Miller. I think he suffers from a rare condition called Alan King syndrome. Funny in their youth, less funny as they age.

Carlin has escaped this disease, thankfully.

Comedians, after singers, are my favorite entertainers. I have a list of favorites a mile long.

When I was a boy I loved Emmet Kelly and Bozo. I liked Clarabelle, but he mostly went around honking his horn, jumping up and down excitedly.

I've never really cared much for clowns - but I love them in "Tripping the Rift".

We should be grateful to the clowns for carpooling. Think of the extra gasoline usage if every clown drove his own car.

I have a bunch of friends who are professional clowns. They're cool people. And as I've mentioned before, clown sex cannot be beat.

As for Dennis Miller, I concur with Cavs Alan King comment.
