What is it made of? Looks like hand hammered bronze.

It's a pitcher, not a vase.

@sarkinijus,
You were struck by hand? What does that mean?

You know this is a German what?

@ossobuco,
How did you identify it as German? Made in Germany? Bought in Germany?
What 'signs' are at the bottom? ...

@sarkinijus,
That could be anything. Fake, genuine, ancient, made last week.

The quality looks the part, but you really need to supply as much written and photographic detail as possible if you want to stand any chance of an answer here.
May I suggest you send three or four photos (from various angles, with an open tape measure or a well known coin in frame for scale) to a big auction house. Also tell them the weight.

If interested, they would no doubt pass it on to their resident expert in such items.

@sarkinijus,
Thanks! It could be indeed of German origin, since such items were very popular during the time of historicism (pre-/around 1900)

I've found two similar piece at antique shops
http://i62.tinypic.com/1tknzm.jpg
2 kg as yours, 120 Euros

http://i58.tinypic.com/2mc6f6v.jpg
2.15 kg, 90 Euros

All are without artist/factory marks ... they were a kind of mass product at that time. (Cheaper versions at that time were in dark/black stoneware ... and since most didn't 'survive' due to the material, they now sell at [relatively] higher prices.)

@sarkinijus,
My guess is with what Walter says. It looks like an ancient jug, but when you look at the base, it's a bit too new and shiny, and the "wear' marks seem a bit too organised for it to be hundreds of years old.

Very nice design though. It has a certain Germanic, Viking clunkiness about it.

Might still be worth sending these pics to your local auctioneer to see what he/she thinks.

@sarkinijus,
Do you have a museum nearby?, or one that you could send photos by email? They might be able to advise you.

@Lordyaswas,
Therefore I am looking for information wherever I can because I can not find anything here, but I understand that the photo is hard to say what

@sarkinijus,
The art market here is full of things like that, because many inherited similar stuff from their parents, who inherited it from their grandparents.

ebay has (today) at least six similar to your vases listed here - all about 2 kg, all around 100 Euro.

If you'd sold such 20 years ago ... I can tell you a thing or two about it ...
