The use of commas is more a question of style than of rules. There is nothing wrong with the way you have uxed the commas here. The sentence is rather awkward, though. It would be possible to write with no commas: "One afternoon when i was in the country i saw a beautiful lady."

The trend over the last several decades has been to use commas less often.
