Those of you who have been with us since the beginning will recall the series of obscurantist avatars originally favored by B. Latham, before he settled on the Mountie--which image he has retained ever since. Certainly not something to give any of us pause, and yet . . .

Intrigued by this symbol of authority from a gleeful iconoclast, i've done some digging, and the truth will shock you. B. Latham is the love child of Sgt. Preston of the Yukon and a Saloon Girl in Yellow Knife ! ! !

I have come across much corroborating information as well. Many unfortunate young ladies who made the mistake of indulging in casual trysts with the Mountie have reported his penchant for sex across a dog sled, while cracking a whip and shouting: "On King, Mush ! ! !" Mr. Mountie has also been reported obsessively hunting down any Métis unwary enough to wander into British Columbia . . . there's more, but i will let this all sink in firts. I don't want to shock our reading public too much all at once . . .

All those stories about his buxom Menonite mother? Well, there's no doubt that Trixie Poniatowski was well-endowed . . . but Christian? Puh-leeze . . .

Will you answer too-ou-ou-ou-ou-ou-ou
This means I offer my love to you,
To be your own.
If you refuse me I will be blue,
And waiting all alone.

But if when you hear my love call,
Ringing clear.
And I hear your answering echo so dear.

Then I will know, our love will be true.
You belong to me, I belong to you.

Now, path finder, that was me echoing my mother's love of the duo.

My Gawd! I can't believe that I can remember that stuff.

Sorry, Set. Didn't mean to hi jack your thread. I'm certain the love child won't mind.

Margo, a kangaroo word is an expression in which synonyms of the original words appear. Courtesy of Raggedyaggie, giving me a clue in the NYT's crossword puzzle.

We now return to our regularly scheduled program.

And remember, a mountie always gets his man!

That's another option. Well, he does have on gay apparel, and beneath that red coat, I bet there beats a young and gay heart.

I would place an emoticon here, but it has become trendy on A2K not to use them.

I don't recall Sgt Preston ever kissing a girl, whether on radio or television, and I followed his exploits faithfully. Talk about slipping around the back streets of Dawson, or whatever.

Uncle Yvon of course, knew of the entire scandal, but was too dim-witted to say anything:
