Through a stroke of luck we have come into contact with a person that has, what we believe to be, a valuable gold piece from Pre-Colombian Aztec America. The object is a family heirloom (from Mexico) and has been sitting in a safety deposit box in Germany for the past 75 years.
From preliminary research into the object, it appears to be a figurine depicting Quetzakwatl as the feathered serpent/bird with the body of a bird and a reptilian head adorned with a flat headpiece above. It is also reminiscent of the Quimbaya style of gold working, and as such would like to get it analysed to see if it is pure gold or a Tumbaya alloy. It has an eyelet on the back whereby it could be added to a chain or string.
The measurements are as follows:
4.2cm long
2.2cm wide
16.3 Grams (need to confirm that)
I would love to get this confirmed and try to uncover the story and potential value behind this piece. Could you or any of your associates perhaps help us with this endeavour or at least point us in the right direction
i have pictures of the piece i will be happy to send to you if you know anything about this piece! please help me
