I was on top of a ladder, fixing something on my house, and about three or four sparrows came flying around the corner and landed in a tree near me. They didn't see me because I was above them and they normally don't look up for people. They started fighting and making all kinds of noise. I watched for awhile and then threw my hammer at them.
They were quite alarmed when the hammer whizzed by them, crashing through the branches. They flew away.
It was an exciting moment.
Hammering birds is a crime in England, I hear.
It's mating season for the Sparrows. By scaring them away with a hammer, you have probably ruined all their chances of finding a hot date.

You think I care if a sparrow gets any?
Better than scaring them away with an AK47.
I think we need to work hard to get Gus laid before summer. hes getting testy again
When all you've got is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Hey, Gus! You're back! How long were you up there on that ladder anyway?
Sing along everyone:
If I had a hammer,
I'd throw it at the sparrows,
every damn sparrow
all over this world....
I'd sing out Gustus,
I'd sing out Chimney sweep,
I'd sing out love between the Cav and the sparrow,
All over that man.
I happen to like sparrows. I don't know what gustav's problem is.
gus....where you bin?
I've been fretting!
Sparrows...PAH!
Last night I heard a Barred Owl attacking its prey.
margo, I love your last post. The last line looks as though your cat avatar is spitting out feathers.
Does sex use up testosterone, making men less testy?
Or does it make their testicles smaller - making them less testy?
Puzzled in Femininia.
I caught some asparagus fighting today, but a little hot water calmed them down. No need for a hammer.
Gus, delightful to see you're back!
Have the sparrows returned?
i have to dodge the redwing blackbirds on my way to work, they nest along the side of the road and will attack if you come to close, last year one actually flew close enough to scrape the top of my head
they know no fear, a few years ago i saw one chase a heron out of a ditch, pretty tenacious, considering the heron's about 10 times bigger
djjd62 you need a hammer.
