@vol4life,
It looks like the the gym scene done by Lorenzo Ghiglieri in 1989 based on a famous print made over a hundred years ago of the Hercules Club in Vienna.

The frame looks exactly the same as the one in these pics of Arnold Schwarzenegger opening The Joe and Betty Weider Museum of Physical Culture in 2011. (sourced from: http://www.starkcenter.org/galleries/weider/bailik/)

Ghiglieri has his own site: http://www.art-lorenzo.com/

@bobsal u1553115,
I'm a librarian freak, or freak librarian. But basically started with an images.google.com search using the url of the image as the query. Pulled up one from the Museum launch. Then started searching google for the Museum and the painting and found the painters name on another site. Then searched for the painters named. Did look for the original print's details without joy. No obvious references to the Hercules club in Venice. Although there is one in Ireland.

Then synthesized everything I found.

Librarians don't need books to show off. Wink

@hingehead,
Hmmm. I don't know about that club but I used to live in Venice (CA). The original Gold's Gym is there, and Arnold's office used to be - and still might be - in a building either just up Main Street in Santa Monica or just down Main Street in Venice, i.e., not far from the gym. Santa Monica's Muscle Beach is a little further up the beach (Main St. parallels the beach) - I didn't hang out there so I don't know if many of the muscle types were also Gold's Gym users. Thus, I'll easily guess there could have been a Hercules club around there in Venice too.

Good searching there, Hinge. Thanks for the hint on how.

@ossobuco,
That's a good thought Osso, but a search for 'Hercules club Venice' wouldn't exclude Venice Beach.

I keep thinking I've seen that print before but a couple of search variations struck out.
